How To Activate MS Office Free Without Product Key Using CMD - Meer's World.

We just got 4 new PC's with Office , it seems that in order to activate Office it is necessary to have a Microsoft account. Is this the shape of things to come? Does it lock the installation to a single user? Brand Representative for Microsoft. Office and Office are pretty much doing away with the Product key in favor of a user login.

Each user will have 5 activations and as long as they have separate user profiles you can set this up once and as the use the Office applications they will be required to login at least once a month to keep it activated without login prompts.

I sent out a pair of Surface 3's last week with Office Create a Microsoft account for the organization, this is just assigning ownership of that product key.

Office product keys are per device licenses, so it will work for shared computers. I think you can only have 5 licenses tied to each Microsoft account you create so you're going to end up with multiple accounts you need to keep track of. Not sure about this one. Perhaps ask the sales rep about the keys for starters?

I was able to install and active alongside yesterday but activated using our partner key. It's 30 activations on Office per Microsoft account. I've got multiple email aliases pointing to the same domain mailbox to handle that. So let me get this straight With a retail key you have to have a "Live Account", with 10 licenses per account? Is it the same with an OEM key? We are currently downloading the offline installer for office which seems to give a prompt to enter a product key based on the screen shots.

I'll send it update if all goes well. I'm done with Office. I have informed my clients that I will no longer be supplying Microsoft Office. I have recommended that they move to Open Office with Mozilla Thunderbird as an email client. I know this likely won't be possible for larger organizations, but my biggest client has less than computers. I've given them the choice to go to a subscription model if they absolutely cannot do without office, which is what Microsoft wants.

So Microsoft has indeed succeeded in cutting out this middleman! Once you have activated that using an email address, your actual Product Key is listed on your Microsoft account "my account" page.

Because, the Product Key is locked to the email address and apparently the hardware configuration. There is a lot more to it than that, but you'd probably be better off spending your time searching for an alternative product. It is because of ignorant decisions like these, and Microsoft's lack of understanding about it's customer's that I have moved many clients away from not only their Office package, but their operating system as well.

One client has replace all 30 windows desktops and office with Mac's and Libre' Office, which is free. They have had "0" problems since the switch. I'm not a Mac fan, but more and more, I see Microsoft in it's death throws, and it's because they treat their customer's like a herd of sheep. Microsoft is dead. After 20 years of making a living off of their products, I've come to the conclusion that it's time to get out of the stone age, and start making my living by supporting Apple products instead.

What a crock of shit! As a domain admin who handles over 30 SMBs I will now have to give each user a logon and password for a Microsoft acount??? No wonder my brother-in-law retired from the Msft BOD as governance chair! No one should have to sign into an account to purchase Office software unless the intent of Microsoft is to invade the user's privacy. Like many others here I will be advising users away from Microsoft products like Microsoft Office to less cumbersome products in the open-source community, like LibreOffice, which has matured significantly since it forked from OpenOffice.

We don't want Microsoft accounts, we want to activate and use the software we legally paid for without the constant reminders to login to Microsoft. Some of our laptops are used literally "in the field" where there is no internet connection!

Just stumbled upon yet another issues with this crap. The PC was stored since then. Now, probably since it wasnt used for so long, Office wants to activate again. It asks for the Office account and password, but then it shows me a list of all the licences that are linked to that account, but they dont show me the licence key, they are all named the same with 1 , 2 and so on How the hell am I suppose to chose the right one Microsoft?

And I know that I can deactivate a perfectly good licence if I chose the wrong one. That shit should not be called Home and Business I just do telephone activation now.

Its a PITA, but it works when you don't know which license to use. Keep a copy of all of those. HTM to locate your currently installed Office key.

Again, that's great, but what can I do with that see printscreen? It's in french, but you can tell that there are no way to identify which is which.

That's my issue right there I mean I see that Office could be a good product for our business, but man Yeah thanks Microsoft.

Guess what. You pushed me over the edge. I am old enough and have little enough to lose that you are going to get my strong thumb in your eye every time you turn around. Get used to it. There goes seats. The solution that I have found for my environment is to run the "serializer" as a post install package when deploying my images via Deploy Studio. Hope that helps someone. I found the serializer in my Microsoft software portal along with the download of Office. I have a solution but it isn't an ideal one.

We do not manage our customers' software license accounts nor should we and, as a result, we recently had to activate 30 systems with Office pre-installed. Below are my findings. I hope this helps others out with the tumultuous undertaking required to ship pre-installed Office on systems for which you are an OEM. The copy of Microsoft Office that comes pre-installed is a limited, temporary evaluation license copy 4 days and there are 3 different versions English, French and Portuguese.

Download another limited, temporary evaluation license of Microsoft Office from one of the following links you will need the product key :. Using the Product Key provided will convert the eval. Question: How does one ship a computer with an "activated" copy of Microsoft Office without sharing the Microsoft Account credentials?

Answer: Sign into the Microsoft Account just long enough to activate the locally installed copy of Microsoft Office then log out of the account see below - I know it's , but this works on too.

Now, from time to time, Microsoft Office may ask for a product code, however, if the customer just closes the activation dialog, the activated copy of Microsoft Office works fine and remains activated. What we've done at our company is that we have one mailbox for activations activations foobar. Every time we need to install a copy of Office on a machine, we make aliases for that particular unit, based on its serial number or its service tag a1b2c3d4 foobar.

We then have a spreadsheet linking the Microsoft account to the client, and to the machine, as well as its purchase date. This solved our problem because there's only one Office license per account, we get the activation e-mails and can deal with them properly, and we're not playing whack-a-mole with which license was for what.

The problem that brought me to this thread was a copy of Office refusing to activate, despite having made the account and tying it to the serial number I am certain I typed the address and password no less than forty times. What solved it for me was to click 'install from a disc', where there's a second product key, different from the one on the card that was purchased. Sounds like the best alternative so far, thanks for sharing.

I'll be doing that in our company as we transition to The one point I'm not sure yet on how to proceed is that not all of our workstations have Office, and among those that have some are FPP. Every now and then we need to move an Office installation from one PC to another, which may get confusing if we use the workstation's ID as key.

Still, seems to me like the best solution yet, so I guess we'll just devise some way to track our licenses, maybe using spiceworks itself.

In order to keep a good record, you need to activate the product, then go to the portal and get the product key as you did and record that information with the identity of the PC. My small contribution to the nightmare - just convinced a new client to go with Open Office and save their money. There is just no way I am going to manage 40 installations with this insane Microsoft requirement. I am making it my mission to move everyone and anyone away from MS Office.

Yup, it's a pain. So I don't activate it using any user-specific credentials. If you're a retailer setting this up for an individual customer, then you'll probably want to use user-specific creds.

Here's what I do, and it works for either retail or OEM versions. If it's the Office version, uninstall it and install Office using the instructions in the next section. As a bonus, when you go to the Account view in Office applications, it doesn't show as being registered to a particular Office account. After uninstalling, you can download an offline installer:.
